Just a quick time check

We need to check the time to see if it is running away with us or if there are any time distortion effect in place. Last thing we want is to syncronise within a dilation effect, that could spell disaster. I hope we can be done quickly and get back to our ship, I hope not too long has passed whilst we have been on this planet. This planet does have an incredibly dense crust, which I surmise coupled with the black hole approaching this galaxy is likely causing the dilation effects we are seeing, right now they might be manageable but sometime in the future a trip down to this planet could prove completely fatal. Imagine going down to the planet for just a couple of days and coming back to find that 100 years or more has passed, with the unique makeup of this situation that is something I fear we could be dealing with. I think I might put forward a decree to the council that if anybody goes to the planet there shall be no attempt to rescue them. To them they could probably live as a civilisation for thousands of years before they would notice the effects of the black hole on time. Are we right to play god in this manner, to condemn the people of a planet to a life alone with only themselves but that will end... is that just the nature of life and perhaps the people heading to this planet should be considered lucky to be given a chance to live a fulfilling life and to work on building something. I wander how the descendants of those there now would fare if they ever rediscovered space travel and they come up to find they could never breach gravity well of the encroaching black-hole in their solar system and discover their world is doomed. Maybe all life is ultimately doomed and that is the nature of the universe. Hmm if my kids could understand the concepts at play here I expect they would wander if due to the influence of the black-hole if things like magic or super powers would come about on the planet instead of science..
